• Hi,

I updated the software on the Garden board and I need testers before I roll the changes out to all of the other boards. If you would have time to add some posts to the Garden board I would really appreciate it. You can now
include pictures in your posts, so pictures of last year's gardening successes would be wonderful.
Please let me know about any problems you encounter or any comments you may have.

    Thanks for your help,
    Curt

  • @glitz Hadn’t heard that called the lasagna method but sounds workable.
If you re planting hosta under maple trees it might be a good idea to use some of landscape cloth as a bottom liner. The roots from maple trees really takes the moisture and nutrients out of the soil.
We found a supply of the bags that nurseries use for bagging the root balls of plants. They are made to keep the plants from sending down roots into the surrounding soil while they are on the sales lots. Our hosta group recommended turning these with what would have been the outside for the nursery plant to the inside for the hosta space. Hopefully that liner sort of keeps the maple roots from invading the hosta plant’s space.
Mim, I hope you are feeling better. Mim and I are old friends. She lives about 3 miles from me.
Guess I had better be off to bed. It has been a busy but pretty productive day.
    Good night,
